The Fifth Station
Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus Carry the Cross

We adore thee, O Christ, and we praise thee.
Because by thy holy Cross, thou hast redeemed the world

Reading
And they compelled a passer-by, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in
from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus,
to carry the Cross of Jesus. - Mark 15. 21

Meditation
Simon, coming in from the country, was taken from the crowd by the soldiers
to carry Your cross. Did he come to know You, Lord, as he walked by Your side?
By Your meeting with the Cyrenean, may we find You in the stranger,
and in the needy we meet.

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.
